When Lady Gaga seemed to burst onto the pop music scene with her waist-long, platinum blonde hair and cat suits, the public welcomed her with open arms. She originally got into the music business by performing in dance clubs in New York City and was discovered when she was nineteen years old.

Lady GaGa, whose real name is Joanne Stefani Germanotta, is a stage name which is an ode to Queen, (read: Radio Ga-ga.) Lady GaGa is probably most famous for her single, “Just Dance” which really is just a club song about getting drunk and losing things, such as your shirt.

In the bigger picture, “Just Dance” has a good beat, addicting hook and background vocals from Akon. Internationally, it’s a hit, so nobody can really argue with that. Lady GaGa is also notable for her singles “Poker Face” and “Beautiful Dirty Rich.” “Poker Face” is a clever homage to putting up a front while in love: “And after he’s been hooked/I’ll play the one that’s on his heart.” Also a songwriter, Lady GaGa has written for Britney Spears’ latest album and Interscope label-mates, New Kids on the Block. As someone who refers to songs as “records” and designs most of her attire, there is seemingly a bright future for Lady GaGa.
